Question from Holly: “When editing pictures to give to clients (to print on their own), what ratio do you use to crop? I’ve read 4×6 and 8×12”
Jill: I’ve been told 11×15 because then they can crop to any ratio without losing much, if any, of the image.
Critty: 11×15 has been a fail proof ratio for me so far! I don’t have a full frame camera yet so I have to “resize” all my photos (for 8×10’s) and before providing them to my clients. this ratio works for ALL print sizes!
Belinda: I don’t crop mine at all. Is that bad lol
Melissa: I size my pictures to 10X15 with 300dpi and hardly ever have to crop them when I print them off
Brianne: 4×6
Adele: I don’t crop mine at all ever.
Critty: I also use 300 dpi as well! If I don’t crop them the 8×10’s print with a white margin on 2 sides. I can’t wait until I can afford a full frame camera!
Jennifer: I have wondered this, too! Thanks for the question and answers. I’ll try 11×15 now
Leslie: Can someone go a little more detailed for me? I convert after using Lightroom from Raw to Jpeg, so my standard digital size is 8×12. How would I resize to 11×15 in Lightroom or do you have to do that in photoshop?
Kim: I do not crop mine either
Becky: Mine are 11.867×17.867 240dpi when I take a RAW image into PS Elements. When I crop I “use photo ratio”. Should I be using a custom 11×15 instead? Also, do you change the dpi to 300, or is that what your program automatically pulls it in as?
