Question from Marci: “I’d love to get everyone’s opinion on the best FREE on line advertising you have found. I know you got to spend $ to make $ (and I have spent some on google ads) but this mamas on a budget and free is always good!”
Christina: word of mouth!!!
Emily: Facebook!
Casey: Agreed ^ Facebook, Facebook, Facebook!!
Meghan: Facebook!
Katie: Word of mouth, for sure. I don’t do any advertising on my own (I have a FB page & a website) and I’m 100% booked until the end of the year.
Christy: Word of Mouth! Network with businesses in your area.
Sarah: 98 percent of my business comes from Facebook. Almost all of my sessions receive a sneak peek (with consent) on Facebook and I book sessions from those people’s friends. I started doing this in April and haven’t looked back. I haven’t spent a penny on advertising other than business cards.
Kelly: Check out Lindsay Adlers social marketing book. Tons of great info on there for social marketing. The best way is to have multiple social sites working for you at once.
Amanda: Facebook for sure. One way (other than sneak peeks) to get the ball rollin’ is to do a contest. For example, I am doing one now to get me to 500 likes by November 1st. I ask my fans to share the page, tell their friends to like it, then write on my wall telling who referred them. The person with the most referrals at the end wins a free session with a $100 print credit IF we reach our goal of 500 likes. It’s gotten me 40 new likes in a week 🙂
Leesa: I registered with google for free, then posted to every free advertising on the net that was local. Also, Craigslist and facebook. Five weeks later, my name was on 3 pages of google! Oh, ebay advertising too.
Heather: Lindsay Adler also did a creativelive 1 day session on social marketing. I just bought it! 29.99 until Nov 1 😀
Heather: I find I can multitask while editing by listening to the tutorials
Angelajoy: I do not have a business, but I do think advertising is so important and worth the investment….. I want a road sign, when I finally get started… I have no idea how much that costs
InterSpacePhotography: Same as comments above, Social Marketing is an amazing free way to advertise; also free local Classifieds for your area is worth looking into. Make sure to link all your social accounts together as well. Free online classifieds sites are good as well. There is many ways to advertise online for free.
