Question from Ashley: “Flash drives or CD’s? I currently do CD’s but I am seeing more and more photographers move to flash drives. What do you think?”
Kristen: I looove the new customizable flash drives personally
Teresa: I do DVD’s – but I am leaning toward flash drives, but that also means I need to increase pricing as they are more expensive!
Eilish: On the fence still. CD’s are cheaper but with so many people having macbook airs that do not have a cd drive, I may have to order some usb’s just for those occasions.
Shannon: Drop box?
Zee: I think the customizable flash drives are good for marketing… And they’re cute!
Elizabeth: I love my customized flash drives
Ashley: I have a drop box but I still like the personal packaging experience. I was wondering to if anyone knows of cheap flash drives? I just ordered one to see what it looked like with my logo and it is one of those neat wood ones. I haven’t got it yet but just one was like $12.00 so adds up but likeTeresa Hart Photography said re work my pricing.
Melissa: I do CD’s, however, I had a client not have a CD drive so I put them on DropBox for her. I would love to do custom flash drives, however, I’m just starting out and it’s hard to afford the up front cost yet.
Kim: For those that are using customizable flash drives, where are you ordering them from? Thx!
Timothy: PASS It is the future. Google it and join. Flash drives and CDs are things of the past. Time to move forward.
Jess: currently disks it is the most cost effective way.. however I will soon offer the flash drives.
Tracy: I do flash drives & cd’s. The flash drives I buy at the beginning of the school year when they are around $4 to $5 each and have a chain you can attach to your keychain and I use customized stickers with my logo on the from Vistaprint.
Romuald: Make it easy for the client. Give them the power to chose the storage format…now charge them accordingly
Tracy: I back up all pro gigs up on DVD and online too. All xtra costs like flash drives for customers are added to the cost of the shoot…
Teresa: OK for those of you who use Drop-box is that like the cloud? I don’t want to Download if it’s something like the cloud i have to pay monthly fees for. I already use ImageQuix for uploading/selling/viewing photos thanks
Suz: Dropbox is storage and us free for a certain amount of mb I wouldn’t recommend giving ur customer access to that tho…. And I still use CDs but love the idea of thumb drives and will be working it in eventually however prices go up for that but if its in the market and ppl prefer it then I’d go for it.
Teresa: ty – ill stick with what i have..
