Question from Christina: “Can anyone recommend the best macro lens for a Nikon D700 camera? I have my favorite lens 35mm 1.4 lens but I need to invest in a macro lens that will take amazing photos but not break me.”

Brian: AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED

Colleen:  I love my 105mm (same one Brian mentions above). Took me awhile to get used to it but now I couldn’t live without it….

Chelsi:  I’m selling my 105mm if interested!

Richy: Tamron SP 90mm 2.8 macro

Oona: Chelsi, how much?

Keith: The 105 that Brian mentioned is worth every penny. Extremely sharp lens.

Christie:  I love, love, love my 105. I just got it and Colleen is right, it takes getting used to, but it hasn’t come off my camera

Chelsi: 800 – I’ve used it twice, not much of a macro shooter!

Justin:  I recommended this last time someone posted this question. If you have a zoom lens, buy the $10 fotodiox extension tubes. I’ve taken great images with my 70-200mm Nikon lens with the extension tube. I don’t shoot macro everyday and there’s a slight learning curve since its all manual, but for $10 you can shoot great macro images and see if its worth it to go for an expensive macro lens. Charley:  PhotosBy ChrisEllis Don’t you have a Nikon? What do you use? (Sidenote: His macro shots are INCREDIBLE)

Photosby ChrisEllis:  yeah i have a nikon d60 and i use the cheap noname extension tubes with my 50mm f1.8 nikkor lens. since there are not electrical conductors in the tubes the lens cannot communicate with the camera so u have to use the aperture lens that is on the lens itself but it works great. ive heard tubes are not great when u try to use a zoom lens and they work better with prime lenses like the 50mm 35mm ect. and while at it the 50mm is just a great lens to have anyways when not doing macro
