Question from Kaylee: “Wondering what the suggestions would be for a business portrait session? I photographed 12 clients last time at $30/head. Wanted to increase my price this time. Photos are used on company website only. Should I charge a base rate + per head?”
Dave: There are tools out there like Fotoquote that can help price your images based on type of usage and circulation based on industry standards. Websites are included in the available calculations. Their corporate website is probably a low traffic site so the price should still be relatively low. Some photo hosting companies, like Photoshelter, throw it in “free” for use by their clients. You don’t have to break it out for the customer, but you can use it to inform your pricing. And…by licensing your photos for the individual use, you can maybe make some more money later if they want to use the photos for their annual report, press release, or for an advertising campaign.
