Lifestyle sessions are so much fun and I have a wonderful time capturing those memories for the family. Whether you are in their home or on location, these images are the ones that make my heart beat fast. The lifestyle images are ultimately what I do.
Have a plan. Especially when photographing them in their home. I always tell my clients to not plan for something that they don’t typically do, if that makes sense. I find it is best to use a wide angle lens when you are going into the client’s home. I use my 35 and my 24, depending on what look I am going for and what I am photographing. Crank that ISO. For indoor lifestyle sessions, you really need a camera that can handle high ISO. You never know what the lighting conditions will be that day. It could be a stormy, cloudy day like it was in the photo above. In that case, being able to crank that ISO is imperative. Nikon D700 35 1.4, SS:320, ISO2500

Tell the story from different angles/perspectives. You can really have some fun at lifestyle sessions and get super creative. That is what I love the most about them. As an artist, it’s freeing to be able to express myself through my work. This is your time to step back and watch and learn about the people in front you.
