Question from Natasha: “I have been photographing for just over a year now and still don’t have that many fans. I have been advertizing on local small business pages but still not much interest. how can I get more fans?”
Meaghan: Fans are overrated- concern yourself with clients – especially clients who refer you to family and friends.
Carme: Run a competion!! They must like your page and the photo to count as a vote for the pic!! Just idea!!
Dana: Many photography pages do silent tagging where you tag your business page and like others pages as well. CJP photography is an example.
Jason: Post amazing work. Fans will follow.
Desiree: Tag your seniors other seniors looking for a photographer will like
Jennifer: I’m wondering the same thing. Word of mouth is what I keep hearing. There are so many photographers out there shooting for DIRTCHEAP. I think my time and talent is worth more than that so I charge more not a lot more but more. 80% of my business comes from a bigger city by me. Basically The only time I get local business is when I do mini sessions.
Alli: Blogging can draw traffic too…not always local traffic but you never know what opportunities may arise -destination weddings, etc.
It also engages your current clients…just be sure to make the link to your facebook page visible.
Jonathan: Find a few popular people who have many friends. Offer them a free photo shoot and post your work of them on a facebook page. Tag the photos and make sure you have your information watermarked on them.
Natasha: to go along with this, how can I get more clients
Kat: I’m starting to pass out business cards like crazy, I take photos of my sons class fieldtrips and send them to the parents (they tag my FB page and get word-of-mouth), I pass out cards at kids sports games too. I just started doing this and I have two bookings next week. Good luck!!!
Sarah: Go find models
Andrea: Mine is going slow. But about 90% of those I will love to work with again. So I’m ok if the building page process is slower cause I want the right crowd. But it takes time
Silent tagging is great too
Steve: Set up a Flickr account, within a few weeks youll have ‘fans, contacts, friends’ ect
