Question from Danielle: “What are some interesting ways you grab young children’s attention while your are shooting without a tripod? In some cases the parents and other family members are in the pictures so I need them to be looking at me. I am not good with making unique sounds to get their attention, maybe i should pratcie 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!”

David: Manipulation. There is no right way. Every child is different, the parents should know the difficulty before hand and what they should do to help. Ages 2-4, good luck.

Amanda:  If im using auto focus I take my hand holding my near my lens and put it up, then i wiggle it and tell them to look at the wiggly finger. lol it works though

Nicole:  Sandy Puc had something for this on creative live. Highly recommend

Phoebe: For kids old enough to understand, I always tell them there is a bug or butterfly stuck in my camera that only comes out when they smile! It usually works like a charm!

Dena: Let them throw mini marshmallows at you. ;D

Bobbi-Alan: Peak a boo!

Danielle: Thanks all I will defiantly try these

Jen:  it sounds funny but the last time I used a halloween size box of smarties and put it on my flash they just looked and smiled and then every time we did a pose I would give them a candy when they looked at me

Carla: i do the same as amanda sutton kinda, if they are old enough to count i ask them how many fingers i have up and they always look and count,
