Question from Kathrin: “Question to all the photogs who made it far : what was the thing that made it for you and clients started booking you ? i have moved to another place and starting from beginning ( well i still feel like i wasnt quite there before either), i am afraid to put high prices because i am scared not to get a booking… but dont like to be cheap either.. i am so bad at marketing and business stuff,.. would love to hear your story please !!”
Kendall: Market for the clients you want, not the clients you have! I would say set your prices high (the amount of work you do makes you worth the price point, right?) and offer an introductory discount while you’re getting the ball rolling. Make sure people know its introductory and that your regular pricing applies for their referrals, and put a referral program in place to reward them for sending new clients your way. Hope that helps!
Chris: My opinion (only an opinion) Prices that reflect your talent. We were not booking as much as we would like because we thought we could offer lower prices than most at the same level of services. Then we raised our prices at or above our market competition and have been booking a lot more. Worked for us, but interested as well to see what others say!
Meghan: Maybe you can do a temporary price incentive for locals who book by a certain date? That way you get a booking blitz and have a new fan base to spread the word?
Kathrin: That sounds awesome ! What would you suggest how to reach to clients, before you could offer the price people had to hear about you, english is my second language so I am a bit shy to just start speaking to moms at playgrounds lol any ideas ?
