When did you make the decision to do photography part time/full time?
T’Leah: When people started paying for my work.
Amy: When I became so busy doing part time photography that my part time ad design job was getting in the way.
Natalie: Today!
Corbi: A couple months again. When I realized photography was truly my passion
Milan: still waiting for that moment:)
Alison: I have another job, so my photography is part time right now, but when I am older I would LOVE for it to be full time. I know I need more experience. I’m looking at online courses to help me out a bit. But I’m not exactly sure what to do. I was going to go to college for photography but I didnt get accepted so I’m trying to look at other routes to try to learn more about the business side and learn more about posing and lighting
Desiree: I’ll decide when I make enough money from being a photographer to quit my part and full time jobs (I’m hoping to pay-off my student loans before I’m 30, thus having two jobs). Right now, I guess I’m a part time photographer.
John: i do it full time for myself and love it learn from diffrents jobs when they had film still lol
Andrea: May 31st was my last day and quit my job to do photography full time… 😉
And I looooove it
Tia: When I realized that photography was my breath of fresh air. I am not stressed while working in a session or with my photos and it truly takes my mind off of EVERYTHING that is going on around me. The compliments I recvd also played a large part. I am a typical beginner photographer and probably don’t charge enough–but simply want payment for the time I spend away from my family and enough to buy more ‘photo toys’. (Shutter Huggers are next on my list!) My learning curve is high right now–but for the first time in years I am truly enjoying the learning experience and thirst for more each and every day.
BP4U: Andrea! Wow! Good for you! We would love to hear more about that experience, could you shoot us over an email at bp4uguides@gmail.com
BP4U: Tia Farmer – You are so passionate about photography. I know you are going to have a future of great things. This is what its all about. #U R Inspiring
John: i feel the same way i love what i do photography i feel free its relaxing
Andrea: BP4U, Of course I would be happy to send you an email… Could I send you some old work vs recent work so others can learn from it, in case you wanna use it? I would love to help anyone with what I know and would love those seasoned photographers to assist me more too! 🙂
But I love seeing my old stuff to current! Makes me see what a little practice does…
BP4U: Andrea – We would love that!
Sandy: I have been taking pictures for a LONG time…I used to buy those disposable cameras (parents won’t buy a real one for a 10 year old!!) It takes A LOT of confidence to make that move from steady income to self employed…I made that leap in May of this year! I’ve never been so excited, nervous, content or terrified in my life! It’s been amazing! Photography is my drug!! LOL My imagination is going constantly and I can hardly wait to see what I’ll be doing a year from now! The sky’s the limit!
Georgina: a year ago!
Victoria: When I realized I was wasting my life in an office missing my kids and hating what I did.
Krista: Also a year ago! Like you, Victoria, I was done doing something I hated. Done with feeling stressed out. Done having strangers raise my children. Done working half the week just to pay those strangers to raise my children. Done sacrificing my family’s happiness and my sanity so someone can make money off my back.
I might be a little broke right now. But I’m free!
