My name is Kate Reynolds, and I live in Texas! I went to college and graduated with a music education degree and I felt lost and unfulfilled after I graduated. I started taking pictures because I was captivated with how my wedding photographers made me feel. I felt beautiful and confident throughout my wedding process, and I wanted to make people to feel that way! My husband bought me a basic Canon Rebel and I took off from there! I am so thankful I get to share this gift with the people around me. I love being a part of couples biggest day and watching it fall into place! The more I do and learn, the more I love photography. I am a stay at home mom of 2, and I have the best and most supportive husband in the world! I love Dr. Pepper, working out, family time, Mexican food, the beach, shopping, and Texas sunshine.
3 TIPS for shooting bridal sessions:
- Each bride brings her own style to her portraits. Get to know the bride, her personality and what she desires her pictures to look like. Know her personal style and what she wants. I recently had a bride tell me it was her “dream” to have photos made with horses. What did I do? I found horses, and guess what!? She loved her photos!
- Tell your bride how amazing she looks! We have all dreamed of the day we will meet and marry our price charming, right?! The prettier a bride feels, the more relaxed they will be and the better your photos will look. This is the happiest and most exciting times in a girls life so tell them how amazing they look and continue to encourage and build them up throughout the entire session. It even helps to show them a few from the back screen of your camera when you take one you LOVE! This always builds my girls confidence, which can really help them relax.
- Be confident in yourself! If the bride doesn’t feel like you know what to do they won’t feel confident that the photos look good. I know when I go into a session with lots of great ideas and let the bride know that I am prepared, I feel more confident, organized and less scattered. My personal confidence can make or break a session. This is something I’ve really had to work on and I can see the difference in my photos. Be bold!
